This album collects recordings from latest 2016 down to 2012 when FUNKY TOWN was just an idea in our minds.
We started that year from basic re-arrangements and then it took us a few years to developing our own full band sound and show concept.

"Soul Train Night" is the show by FUNKY TOWN. But...what exactly is a "Soul Train Night"? It's a celebration of the golden age of black music with so many songs that passed by the legendry American Tv programme taking place during the 70-80-90s designed and presented by Don Cornelius. It is our proposal of the vintage sound of that era when funk anc soul evolved becoming a mass phenomenon thanks to labels like Motown in Detroit, Stax and Hi Records in Memphis, Atlantic in NYC, TK Records in Miami and others that made history of that time. It's the revival of that period when a few soul artists, with their songs based on stories of daily life, friendship, work, love and passion, but even jealousy and violence, they were starting using a kind of street beat, more urban and popular, giving origin to funk and funky-soul, where melodies coming from blues and gospel were engrafted on a very heartbeating afro-american rhythmics.

FUNKY TOWN with their "Soul Train Night" are re-proposing funk and soul emotions of those years revisiting the songs with own original arrangements together with some own compositions in the same style.
